Sparkly Butterfly Thank-you Card: My July 2025 Altenew Challenge Entry

Hello Crafty Friends!
As this wonderful month of July wraps up, I’m joining Altenew’s July 2025 Inspiration Challenge. I was immediately drawn to the butterfly theme and soothing colors, and I couldn’t resist creating a thank-you card inspired by the challenge!
🛠 Altenew Materials Used
Just Leaves Die Set
Zero-Waste: Berries and Branches Die
Wings & Petals Layering Die Set (from the Wings & Petals Craft-Your-Life Kit)
“thanks” Die (from the Sweet Sentiments Die Set)
Masking Paper
Reindeer Moss Fresh Dye Ink
Large Blending Brush
Sand Dunes Cardstock (from the Gradient Cardstock Set: Coffee Break)
Starlight Glitter Cardstock (from the Ocean Reflection Glitter Cardstock Set)
Instant Dimension Foam Tape
🦋 To recreate this card:
Start with a 4" x 6" inch panel of cream-colored cardstock with a subtle tone on tone pattern.
Die-cut leafy branches from masking paper using the Just Leaves and the Zero-Waste: Berries and Branches Die. Arrange them over most of the panel, leaving the lower right corner uncovered.
Blend Reindeer Moss ink around the masked shapes with a large blending brush. Remove the masks to reveal the resist pattern.
Die-cut the “thanks” sentiment from Starlight glitter cardstock. Cut the shadow five times from black cardstock, layer and glue them together, then top with the glitter layer.
Die-cut one butterfly using the Wings & Petals Layering Die Set. Use Sand Dunes cardstock for the bottom layers and Starlight glitter cardstock for the top two, the detailed layers.
Assemble the butterfly by gluing the top, detailed layers onto the base layers. Stack the front and back of the butterfly and glue only the bodies together, leaving the wings free. Add a piece of Instant Dimension Foam Tape between the wings for dimension.
Mount the finished panel onto a 5" x 7" card base. Adhere the sentiment in the lower right corner and attach the butterfly to the top of the “k” in “thanks,” using Instant Dimension Foam Tape under the body and glue under the back wing.
And that’s it—your sparkly butterfly thank-you card is ready.
