Hi Everyone!

The cherry trees are beginning to bloom, and they—along with the Irresistible Inking Techniques course—inspired me to create this one-layer card.
I used the gorgeous Moments in Time Stamp Set, stamping the cherry tree in Permanent Mist Gray Pigment Ink and the blossoms with a pink Tombow Dual Brush Marker (#743). For the background, I used a granulating watercolor for the sky and ground, letting the natural texture add effortless depth. Then, I painted the tree and blossoms using Altenew ink pads as watercolors—Espresso, Mocha, Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious and Rubellite. I also added a few golden accents to the tree trunk. To complete the scene, I brushed some of the pink hues onto the ground, creating the look of fallen petals.
For the sentiment, I stamped Happy Birthday (from the sadly discontinued Sohcahtoa Stamp Set) in Obsidian Pigment Ink and called the card done.
Or so I thought! I couldn’t resist adding a little extra detail inside the card, stamping and coloring the cherry branch and swing for a sweet surprise.
